Fort Pulaski Tybee Island near Savannah GA

After a picnic on Tybee Island, stopped on another island to visit another Fort which were built just before the American civil war. Very interesting historical tour.

Apres un pique nique sur la plage de Tybee Island, nous avons visite une autre Fort construit a l'epoque de la Guerre Civile Americaine. Tour très intéressant.

 The water around the fort was used for the sewer. An ingenuous system used the ocean tide to clean the canal. Still must have been a very smelly area!
L'eau autour du fort était reelement le tout a l'égout. Un système d'evacuation utilisait le flux et reflux pour éliminer les égouts. Très ingénieux!

 The wood you see on the left was actually all around to protect from the canons from the enemy (not the English but the Federal Army from the north)

 The terrasse is a system of water recuperation. There are many layers to filter the water which is stored in huge brick containers under the floors of the first floor.
La terrasse que vous voyez sur cette photo est faite de plusieurs couches de rochers, sable, terre. L'eau de pluie est ainsi filtree et des tuyaux la dirige dans de grandes citernes en brique qui se trouvent sour le plancher du rez de chaussée. Super. (l'ingenieur était français)
