Strawberries festival sans strawberries!

I think our grand children should try this trick. Ah! Won't be there to watch though!

Just a few hours spent in some sort of festival organized by the local Habitat for Humanity chapter. It was suppose to be a strawberry festival but could not see any strawberry. Oh well!!
Juste quelques heures passées dans une kermesse organisée par l'organisation de Habitat pour l'Humanité. On pensait qu'il y aurait des fraises (on nous avait dit : festival des fraises- courant en Floride) mais on n'en a pas vu une...pas grave.

campgrounds

SC: Huntington Beach State Park
Caroline du Sud: Parc d'état de Huntington Plage

 Local steamed oyesters.
Local fish store with local catch of the day.
Soon I will add some pictures of Wilderness RV resort our town for March 2018

Jekyll's Island GA / Ile de Jekyll en Georgie

Cottages built by the richest of the richest at the end of XIXth and beginning of the XXth century. Exclusive resort. Beautiful island with restored cottages from a not so distant past built for the winter months of some very exclusive glamorous rich Americans.
Easy and well kept bike trail around the whole island owned by the state of South Carolina. Well worth a visit.
However the campground is located under trees and in the sand and infested by no-sees bugs which attacked us every day in the shade. People were friendly though and active. We stayed 4 days and I was able to attend a quilt morning and an aerobic class. We felt welcomed by all. We even had a private tour of a cottage being restored: very instructive details offered by an over 80 year old man who has been restoring the cottage for over 20 years with a small group of very dedicated retired men. Lucky to have had the chance to enter this building.

What we are up to lately

This month we have reconnected with friends we had met 3 years ago and met new friends. The group is growing.
Something for every day:
Hits at Ocala: GMC Grand Prix. Fun but got soaked so had to leave before the end. That's ok, we wiill be going back this Sunday for the 1M grand prix.

Feeling and acting like kids playing Card games and Mexican Dominoes with new and not so new friends.

Wilderness does not have too many activities so we create our own: campfires are one favorite

Lucky to be offered for a pontoon ride up Silver Springs from our campground with 3 other couples. What a beautiful ride among: turtles, alligators, monkeys, manatees...birds...

No pictures of biking but discovered a new trail: Santos. The ride takes us through forests and next to a horse farm. Easy riding but good exercise nonetheless.
Out to some crazy restaurants for a fish fry tomorrow followed by a karaoke night; St Patrick dance... and so on.

Jan's quilt prize

To conclude our February stay in Murrill's Inlet, we joined some friends to visit a quilt show. We were very happy and proud to attend Jan's award ceremony to receive her winning prize. What a talent to do so much work! Truly a work of art. Enjoy the pictures below.
