Arctic Insulation welcomed.

Already a week gone by. Water, electricity and sewer hooked up 6 days ago. Neighbors are at a distance from us. No spanish moss here only green leaves make a nice background for the desk where you will be informed of our daily activities. So far lots of walking and biking on the beach, in the marsh, through the 2500 acres. It is not the warmest (but we expected this) but warm enough for us to go out daily. However expecting 27F tonight. Tim is ready: will turn off water, drain the water hose, wrap rag around the water spigot (boy I had to search how to spell that word- does not seem to be pronounced correctly, if you ask me) to prevent it from freezing. Our camper has Arctic Insulation, so we can sleep comfortably tonight.  No worries we have electric and propane heating system... Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Deja une semaine de passée. L'eau, l'electricite et tout a l'égout branchés. Nos voisins à bonne distance. Pas de Mousse Espagnole seulement des feuilles vertes qui forment un bon paysage du bureau duquel proviendront le blog de nos activités. Jusqu'a present nombreuses balades a pied ou en bicyclette dans le parc ou dans les marais parmi les 1100 hectares (?). 

Il ne fait pas des plus chaud (mais on était prêt a cette possibilité) mais assez chaud pour faire nos promenades quotidiennes. Cependant on attend -3c ce soir. Tim est prêt: fermera l'eau, videra le tuyau et entourera d'une nappe l'arrivée d'eau pour l'empêcher de geler.  Mais on est prêt: notre caravane a été construite avec l'option: Arctic Insulation. On a également le chauffage central et un radiateur électrique sans oublier une cheminée  Alors on peut faire de beaux rêves cette nuit, non?

Below Tim tasting oysters. Not quite local yet. These are from Virginia. We will have to try a different restaurant to enjoy the local steamed oysters. Plenty of time left to do that.

Ci-dessous Tim déguste des huitres. Pas locale ce jour-la. Elles proviennent de la Virginie (à 2 états au nord d'ici). Il nous faudra essayer un restaurant different pour en trouver de locales. On a le temps d'en trouver un.

Coming up: Plantations visits, as well as a tour of Charleston 90mn away. But you will have to wait like us for warmer days. See'ya.

Out to lunch or out for lunch?

That's definitely out "for" lunch. Our first day at Huntington Beach State park. Great park offering plenty of space for each site. Many campers have been here for a couple of months. They survived frozen pipes and lack of water from the campground itself. Yak!

As for this one below it is out "to" lunch, having his back massaged in our new theater seating. Our first night next to the Atlantic Ocean. 

As you can see, the beach stretches for many miles. Today walking tomorrow biking. Temperatures are not summer like but definitely Maine-Spring-like for us Northerners. 

2018 Winter Wonderland! Really?!

 Tim in October:"Are you ready to leave yet? It will be cold soon and it is not fun dealing with it: keeping the house warm, shoveling snow day after day and icy roads is not what I want to spend winter dealing with."
MC: I can understand that but: change of seasons, waking up to sun shining on immaculate snow, skiing... I like to live this every year."

This year winter has been especially tough. Temperatures of 0 F. or less were the norm of the day. Snow storms were followed by pouring rain, freezing rain, and windy days. So, after these storms we(/ no/ ), Tim had to  snow blow for many hours and I helped  moving piles of snow, we both agreed: it is time to hit the road.

However, look at  the pictures above. They represent the best part of winter in New England... that is as long as you can warm up next to a nice fire from the pellet stove.
